I'm a strong believer in goals. You can't willy nilly wish for something and have it come true. You have to create specific, actionable, and time sensitive goals otherwise you have no chance of accomplishing them.

Persistence is the Key for Large Goals
One of the goals I had when I joined WooThemes nine months ago was to be in the top 10 contributors for WooCommerce. I love contributing to open source projects and I can't think of anything better to work on than our companies flagship product and the most popular e-commerce solution. I'm happy to share that after 268 days I finally made it in the top 10!
Resolutions for 2014
Last year I created some programming resolutions and shortly after writing that post everything started falling into place. I certainly don't believe it was magic or divine intervention but I do believe in positive thought and setting an intention. Since I did pretty well with my resolutions from last year I wanted to come up with some new ones.
The Intent of Goals
I'm a big fan of goals. I think they can motivate you to do more than you would normally be able to do. But they can also be detrimental if you hang all of your hope on achieving something and “failing” to achieve it. This is the real downside with goals when we confuse the achievement of the goal with the intent of the goal.
Programming Resolutions for 2013
